About the Campaign
The aim of the campaign is to increase substantially the Internet connection bandwidth between 33 percent of people in America who do not. Our goal is to reach 20 million people through our public service announcements and improve the lives of millions of people influencing them to take this vital technology of the 21st century.
Latinos and Broadband
- Access to broadband has great potential for the Latino community. It links job seekers with job opportunities, students with financial aid, who are learning languages with educational resources, immigrants with information about how to integrate into their new communities and friends and family together.
- According to a recent Pew survey, while about two-thirds of Latinos (65%) and African-American adults (66%) were online in 2010, over three quarters (77%) of Anglo adults did. Only 55% of Latinos have access to any Internet service at home. The gap in the use of broadband at home is even more remarkable. Only 45% of Latinos (45%) have access to broadband Internet at home, compared with a higher rate, both among whites (65%) or African Americans (52%).
